The members of the EASM Board unanimously supported the proposal by the Award Committee, who concluded:
"Barrie’s achievements are especially in developing the field of Sport Policy within the EASM community, and more broadly the European, Norwegian, British, and international academic communities; closely connected to the field of Sport Management.
"He is recognized for his large output in terms of books, articles, edited volumes and case studies. His pioneering work regarding the establishment and development of the International Journal of Sport Policy and Politics is also greatly appreciated, and has served many sport management scholars well.
"Apart from research, he also took leading roles in his universities but what is making him a true valuable candidate is that he was very collegial and helpful to students and junior scholars."
The award will be presented at the EASM annual conference in Innsbruck from 5-8 September 2022.
