Second-year Human Biology student, Annie Boby, has won silver in both Junior and Senior categories at the Commonwealth Judo Championships in Walsall.
Annie has been doing Judo since the age of six and was ranked 1st in Great Britain at Junior (U21) level.
She was selected to compete at the Championships by team England.
On the experience at the competition, Annie said:
“I am extremely happy as this was my first time winning a medal at a competition of this level. There was such a good atmosphere with a lot of team England cheering on the side.”
As well as competing, Annie is the Chair of AU Judo and is Sports Secretary for the Falkner-Eggington halls on campus. She is enthusiastic about encouraging others to get involved in Judo, especially girls as it is a stereotypically seen as a male-dominated sport.
Following her success in Walsall, Annie now has her sights set on a European Cup medal.
Well done, Annie!
