º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ supervisor shortlisted for PhD Supervisor of the Year’ in inaugural Postgrad Awards

Dr David Fletcher, of the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences, has been shortlisted for a national PhD Supervisor of the year award in the FindAPhD’s Postgraduate Awards.

A º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ academic is one of six in the country to be shortlisted for PhD Supervisor of the Year Award at FindAUniversity’s Postgrad Awards.

Dr David Fletcher, Senior Lecturer in Sports and Performance Psychology, has successfully reached the final stage after the judging panel – a selection of experts within the education sector – were impressed with his nominated entry.

More than 140 nominations were made for the award, which were of an extremely high standard and included many inspirational stories.

The category has been created to celebrate those supervisors who go above and beyond to give PhD students the best possible experience.

Not only are they inspirational, supportive, and encouraging, but they also possess dedication and have real expertise and passion for their subject field.

Speaking about the shortlisting, Dr Fletcher said: “It’s humbling to be nominated for this award, particularly because it’s on behalf of PhD students and peers. Supervising PhD students is one of the best parts of my job and I’m fortunate that º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ has created a research environment that enables students and supervisors alike to thrive.”

The winner will be announced at the end of this month, and will be featured in FindaPhD’s e-newsletter, which goes out to more than 87,000 people.
