Public lecture: Mental toughness - from elite sport to weight management
Presented By Dr Elizabeth Stamp / NCSEM
This public lecture will be delivered by Dr Elizabeth Stamp, Lecturer in Health and Exercise Psychology at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ, on 16 March 2021. The talk will discuss mental toughness and its relationship with both elite sport and weight management.
Mental toughness is a characteristic that was originally associated with the success of elite athletes. This talk will progress our understanding of mental toughness and expand our knowledge of the concept in elite sport to behaviour change and weight management. This presentation will challenge previous work, demonstrating that mental toughness does not always lead to success and goal achievement. Strategies will be offered for weight management and behaviour change based on an individual’s mental toughness level.
