Examining the interfaces between research, practice, teaching and management in elite sport.

IAS Seminar: Examining the interfaces between research, practice, teaching and management in elite sport: a case study and panel discussion - Professor Paul Wylleman

This event offers the opportunity for PhD students and ECRs to listen to the one of the most eminent applied practitioner-researchers in Europe discuss and reflect upon the interaction between his own athletic, psychological, psychosocial, academic and vocational background and the way his university career developed from researcher to teacher, and practitioner and manager in performance sport.

His case study will be followed by a panel discussion led by Professor Chris Harwood and other senior colleagues with a track-record in applied research in sport. This will aim to draw out considerations for research designs and methods that serve knowledge advances for the sport industry, and the mechanisms that can facilitate funding from external sport partners.

Professor Wylleman (Vrije Universiteit, Brussels) is a former President of the European Federation of Sport Psychology (FEPSAC) and is founder and coordinator of the European Forum for Applied Sport Psychologists in Topsport (FAST), which brings together sport psychology service providers working with elite and Olympic athletes and teams.
