Professor Justin Waring

Justin joined the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ in November 2024 as Dean of the School of Social Sciences and Humanities.  Previously he was at University of Birmingham as Professor of Medical Sociology. 

Professor Waring is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Science and the Royal Society of Arts, and Director of the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Birmingham, RAND and Cambridge Rapid Evaluation Centre (BRACE). BRACE provides decision makers and stakeholders with time-critical evidence and learning about new ways of organising and providing care. 

He has previously held positions at the University of Cambridge, University of Nottingham and University of Gothenburg, and has longstanding collaborations with researchers at the University of Toronto and University of California, Berkeley.

Professor Waring is a world-leading medical sociologist with expertise in the implementation of strategic change in health and care systems.
