Background
Started his research (during bachelor’s and master’s degrees) on modelling of solar energy and started research on energy storage during his PhD through the modelling and analysis of a medium-term energy storage system based on the Organic Rankine Cycle. During his Ph.D. he has also researched Liquid Air Energy Storage (LAES), during his time as a visiting student at the University of Birmingham, and Compressed Air Energy Storage (CAES).
Later has worked as a substitute professor of automation at UFLA (Universidade Federal de Lavras) and has recently taken up the position of Research Associate in Thermal Energy Storage at the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ where he is working in the context of the GasNetNew and SAVE-CAES projects.

Main research
Thermomechanical Energy Storage
Energy storage is one of the main solutions to mitigate the effect of intermittent energy sources, such as wind and solar energy. His research during his PhD has focused on the thermodynamic and cost evaluation of energy storage systems for mid to long-term storage. Currently he is doing research on the use of TCES and CAES technologies in the context of the GasNetNew project.
Solar Energy
Solar energy is one of the main renewable energy sources for the shift towards a net zero scenario. His research has been on the modelling, simulation, and evaluation of different solutions (such as concentrators, tracking) for the increase of total collected energy.
