The Dynamics & Tribology Research Group undertakes research across a broad scale of physics of motion from fundamentals to various application areas, with emphasis in coupling between dynamics and tribology.
The physical phenomena investigated are related to energy efficiency (friction), dynamics of motion and mechanical oscillations. Key applications include energy efficiency and noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) of propulsion systems, vibration energy harvesting and sensing design at both system and component level.
The group has a long-standing track record of research funding from national funding bodies, such as the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), in addition to numerous successful collaborations with industry in the UK as well as worldwide.
