Art and Design Foundation Studies
This is a year-long, fast-paced course that encourages students to develop their artistic ability and discover their own creative preferences
You will learn a broad range of skills before tailoring the course to what you enjoy, eventually choosing the specialist undergraduate course best suited to you.
You will grow as an artist over the course of a year, learning both theoretical and practical learning in 3D Design, Fine Art, Visual Communication, and Textiles and Fashion. You will gain a solid grounding in the conceptual, practical, historical and theoretical elements of each of these areas, and then be given the freedom to tailor the course to focus on your preferred area.
The portal will open for 2025 applications on Monday 14 October 2024
This course is ideal for students who are unsure as to which degree course they should progress on to, or for those who are unsure as to whether University is the right choice for them; it's also a great choice for those interested in studying a creative course at degree level, but who perhaps haven't already studied the necessary subjects at A Level or equivalent. It enables students to experience the four key disciplines, so that they can make a more informed decision at undergraduate level.
