Dr Asghar is the current deputy head of School and a multi-award winning academic, who has been building capacity within his own Design Department in Pakistan. He has set up post-graduate research programmes and instigated the first design research group in his Department, as well as working on a special task force with Regional Government in Lahore, Pakistan advising on a participatory and codesign approach to enhancing air quality in the city.

Dr Asghar completed his PhD through SDCA in 2017 and has since co-authored four journal papers with SDCA and international colleagues around the topic of cultural blindness.

Dr Asghar leads and teaches modules across various design subjects being offered by the department (PID, UET), revision and upgradation of design curriculum, liaison between undergraduate students, staff members and university administration, creating strategies for an increased employment of students within industry.

Best Paper Award by Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (CIEHF) at the International conference of Ergonomics & Human Factors (EHF) 2019, held in April, at the Crowne Plaza in Stratford-upon-Avon, London, United Kingdom.

Three Erick Dickens Memorial Awards (2018,2019,2020) given by the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) and Packaging Society, UK, being a member of team of tutors, for outstanding contribution to the promotion of packaging design in education.
