Dr Matt Maley studied Sport and Exercise Science followed by a research Masters in Exercise Physiology with a focus on skin blood flow responses during exercise in hot environments. Matt went on to gain his teaching qualification (PGCE) and then his PhD in Physiology from the Extreme Environments Laboratories at the University of Portsmouth. Following a short tenure lecturing in higher education, Dr Maley moved to Australia where, as a research fellow, led various funded projects with partners including the United States Department of Defence and the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services.
Nearly two years later, Matt returned to England to take a Senior Research Associate position at the University of Portsmouth, working with the Ministry of Defence to facilitate our understanding of non-freezing cold injury. A year later, Matt returned to the Midlands, lecturing in Exercise Physiology. Following this, he took up his current Lecturing position at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ.
Dr Maley is accredited by the British Association of Sport and Exercise Science. His research broadly focuses on human physiology but is most interested in how environmental factors impact the health and performance of healthy individuals and vulnerable groups.
