Jane Tormey is author of Photography and Political Aesthetics (Routledge to be published 2023), Cities and Photography (Routledge 2012) and Photographic Realism: late twentieth century aesthetics (Manchester University Press, 2013). She is editor, with Mark Durden, of The Routledge Companion to Photography Theory (2019) and with Gillian Whiteley of Art, Politics and the Pamphleteer (Bloomsbury 2021) and the Bloomsbury book series RadicalAesthetics-RadicalArt. Her writing and research focuses on the exchange of ideas between art practice and other disciplines, particularly the conflict between aesthetics and political content through the use of photography and film.
