Elizabeth Hawley-Lingham is a visual arts specialist with twenty years' experience of working in the public sector and skills gained within public galleries, artist-led spaces, arts funding, and professional and organisational development. She has extensive experience of providing support and mentoring to visual artists and creative practitioners. Between 2011 and 2020 she was Director of the Contemporary Visual Arts Network for the East Midlands, providing sector support, nurturing creative practices, forging connections within the visual arts ecosystem. She also ran an independent practice working with clients that included The New Art Gallery Walsall, UK New Artists, New Art West Midlands, Birmingham and Coventry Contemporary Art Forums, the Herbert Museum and Art Gallery, Own Art, and the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists. Before this, she worked at Arts Council England, Tate Liverpool and Spike Island.
She is University Coordinator for the Artist Access to Art Colleges (AA2A) scheme and is working towards gaining Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.
As University Teacher – Professional Practice in Art & Design, Elizabeth currently teaches across the undergraduate Fine Art, Graphic Communication and Illustration and Textiles programmes, and leads modules within and across those programmes.
