Gemma holds a MSc in Health, Safety and Environment from the University of Greenwich. She is also a graduate of Middlesex University with a HND in Environmental and Occupational Health along with professional qualifications including the The National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health and British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) Certificate of Operational Competence.
Gemma has 15 years’ experience in the Environmental Health field encompassing Occupational Health and Workplace Health and Safety. She gained a majority of her experience as part of the UK military. 3 years she ago started working for the NHS improving the provision of monitoring services for noise, lighting and thermal comfort as well as providing advice on chemical exposure as well as training to be an Ergocoach and deliver Manual Handling training to clinical and non-clinical staff.
Thesis (working) title: Do lean and stoop devices reduce back pain in hospital healthcare staff through improved posture awareness.
Gemma is currently undertaking a PhD at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ with a key interest in Musculoskeletal Disorders within the Healthcare environment. Gemma is looking specifically into non-clinical staff and the prevalence of Musculoskeletal disorders.
