Amy's PhD project involves exploring pedestrian interactions with autonomous vehicles (AVs). The project aims to develop an understanding of distracted pedestrian behaviour through systematic investigation and testing/application of theoretical psychological models to road user behaviour. Within the wider context of AVs, these principles can be applied to AV system design guidelines with a view to improving efficiency and safety on public roads.
Thesis title: Investigating interactions between vulnerable road users and autonomous vehicles.
Amy is involved with the Transport Safety Research Centre and International Research Centre to Investigate the Effects of Vehicle Automation on Vulnerable Road Users (ICAROS), funded by Research England.
Supervisors: Professor Andrew Morris and Dr Ashleigh Filtness.
