Kirsten's professional background is in management accounting and she held a number of management accountant posts in both the National Health Service and local government prior to engaging in an academic career.
She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and sits on their Adjudications Working Party. Kirsten has extensive teaching experience across a number of accounting and public sector modules/programmes.
Her research interests are in performance and financial management regimes across the public sector. She has a particular interest in the performance of Local Authorities and Fire and Rescue Services.
