This exciting development from the East Midlands Chamber of Commerce expanded the region wide Manufacturing Network into Leicestershire as a whole, bringing together key players from manufacturing, technology, trade bodies and policy. This introductory session focused on the scale of manufacturing challenges for the region.
Participants had the opportunity to share business perspectives and hear about insights from research aimed at supporting UK manufacturing, including presentations from Make UK and Generation Next.
Attendees had the chance to hear from º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Business School Communications Manager Will Blackshaw and Senior Lecturer Dr Kate Broadhurst about the School and their work as part of the InterAct Network.
Dr Broadhurst presented the findings of her team’s work examining the potential of ‘Open Innovation’ for the manufacturing sector. This project aims to create roadmaps outlining best practice for collaborative open innovation, designed to help overcome the challenges of technological development and implementation in industry.
The Business School will be continuing to support the Leicestershire Manufacturing Network as it grows and develops, working closely with manufacturing businesses to help shape a positive, sustainable future for the sector.
