How does your digital data footprint contribute to environmental impact?

Abstract
The growth of digital data and the use of digital technologies are contributing to environmental pollution and climate change. The focus on physical decarbonization has overlooked the environmental impact of digitalization, including data generation and storage, leading to a significant contribution to global emissions.
The data industry is projected to produce more emissions than the automotive, aviation, and energy sectors combined. To address this issue, our team has designed the 'Data Carbon Ladder' tool to assess and reduce the CO2 footprint of data projects by optimizing dataset selection, update frequency, storage location, and analytics. This free tool can help businesses create a more sustainable and efficient solution.
