Summary of project activities and outcomes:
The evaluation focused on a multi-disciplinary assessment of the World Bank funded SSP project that included the provision of 370+ community toilet blocks in the slums of Mumbai. The project included innovative design and implementation of the toilet blocks using NGO/private sector consortia. The evaluation was led by TARU, India with WEDC focusing on project management aspects. Kevin Sansom represented WEDC. Volume 1 was the main evaluation report, while volume 2 focused on proposals for future programmes. Both reports were well received by the World Bank.
