Knowledge management and outreach
The importance of effective communication and dissemination of knowledge in the WASH sector was first recognised as an issue some 20 years ago. Since then, WEDC has played a key role in the development of guidelines for dissemination, and the improvement of communication principles and strategies. These relate to new knowledge generated through research and enterprise, as well as optimising the value of existing knowledge by focusing on effective outreach and uptake. Specific research projects and evaluations on knowledge management, the WEDC Knowledge Base, and the WEDC International Conference are part of the range of activities in this area. Also all research and their associated outputs are given careful consideration to ensure accessibility by appropriate audiences, from practitioners to policy makers, for maximum uptake and impact.
If you would like to find out more about WEDC’s work is this area, please contact Dr Julie Fisher or Dr Andrew Cotton.
