Working with us
As a strategic research partner to the sporting goods sector, the Sports Technology Institute can offer businesses unique engineering and technological expertise with the ability to add value to your business and to revolutionise the R&D product pipeline.
Who we work with
We work with a wide variety of business partners, ranging from global sports brands such as adidas, Nike, Dunlop Slazenger and PING, right through to SMEs and local start-up companies.
We also have strong on-going relationships with not for profit organisations, such as UK Sport, Youth Sport Trust and Sport England, as well as national sports governing bodies and international federations.
The scale and resource implications of our projects vary considerably but all are treated with the same level of care and professionalism.
How we work
We work closely with our business partners as part of the team, setting clear goals, agreeing deliverables and sharing knowledge and resources in order to achieve success.
For us, communication throughout the project is absolutely key to ensuring it is well managed and that the outputs are in line with brand expectations.
The benefits
We recognise that the sporting goods sector is dynamic and competitive. As a university partner we are ultimately an impartial, credible third party and do not align exclusively with any one particular brand in order to maintain independence.
As a university research group we are uniquely placed to bid for research grants, allowing us to undertake research that is of value to our industrial partners but funded by the British Government. For example, a funded PhD studentship allows an industrial partner to benefit from the Institute’s knowledge-base and facilities at relatively low costs.
