A number of PhD scholarships are available to undertake research in partnership with adidas based in the Sports Technology Institute starting in the summer or later this year. We are looking for highly competent engineers with an interest in (or passion for!) sport, available to start this year.

The topic areas are

- Technical measurement of apparel (development of new measurement systems to better understand the interaction of clothing with the body)
- Apparel test machine development (development of apparatus capable of testing items of clothing to specific performance requirements (e.g. sports bras)
- Sports ball aerodynamics (experimental analysis of balls and how their shape and surface features affect their flight) – in partnership with Aero/Auto

A process of recruitment will follow, but anyone who might be interested in finding out more is invited to meet with the Director of the Sports Technology Institute and a colleague from adidas on Wednesday 27th April.
