TIDAL Network+ Agenda Setting and Collaboration Workshops to help you develop your funding proposal

Funding call for £60k feasibility projects on the theme of DMS (Digital Design and Manufacturing Systems) and Physical AT Devices

  • 22-23 June 2022 from 10.00 am to midday online

TIDAL Network+ is an EPSRC-funded collaboration between UCL, Strathclyde, Salford, and º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Universities. TIDAL N+ aims to grow a network to support the development of technologies and services which will improve the quality and affordability of Assistive Technology (AT) available to people, and hence the lives of the people who use them.

The network is launching a funding call on the theme of DMS (Digital Design and Manufacturing Systems) and Physical AT Devices.

What is this funding call about?

This theme seeks to investigate novel ways to exploit the potentials and advantages of digital design and manufacturing. Sometimes referred to as the 4th industrial revolution or Industry 4.0, DMS is characterised by:

  • The exploitation of advanced digital software and telecommunication systems
  • The use of digital tools to enable the semi-automated capture of patient / user data
  • The remote, redistributed or semi-automated computer-aided design of typically custom-fitting or personalised Assistive Technology products
  • Flexible, adaptable, on-demand and or redistributed manufacture closer to or at the point of care

How much can I apply for?

Workshops to help you write a winning proposal

We are running two linked workshops: Agenda Setting on 22 June 10am to midday and Collaboration on 23 June 10am to midday.

The workshops are designed to help you understand the theme of the call and what we are looking to fund. If you are interested in submitting an application, or may be, we would encourage you to attend. The aim is to:

  • Introduce the theme of DMS and Physical AT Devices
  • Help seed partnerships across the network
  • Inspire innovative proposals
  • Answer questions and help you prepare to develop a bid/contribute to the community

Who should attend?

  • The workshops are primarily aimed at researchers who may be interested in submitting an application but potential industry / user advocate partner organisations are also welcome to attend; there may be researchers attending who would be interested in partnering with you.
  • ECRs are particularly encouraged to attend.

Accessibility requirements

  • If you have any accessibility requirements or other needs to enable you to take part in the workshops, please email the TIDAL Network+ team by 6 June 2022.

How to register

You don’t have to attend both days, but the two days are designed to complement one another so we would encourage you to attend both if you can.
