In July 2021, the Centre announced the award of £1.4 million worth of EPSRC funding for a three year project called Industrial Robots-as-a-Service (IRaaS) which is aimed at making automation more accessible, particularly for small and medium size enterprises (SMEs). The ambition is to create automation services based on light-weight mobile robots that will significantly reduce the effort required to deploy, redeploy and changeover automation systems in different workplaces from days to just minutes.
One of the project’s key objectives is to prove that human-robot teams can jointly carry out complex collaborative tasks with an efficiency and quality exceeding those of monolithic dedicated systems.
October 2021 saw the official launch of the IRaaS project at Burleigh Court, which was attended by many of our partners. Today we are pleased to announce that the website for this project has gone live.
