Daniela Irrera is Associate Professor of International Relations at the Department of Political and Social Sciences of the University of Catania, where she serves as Chair of the MA program in Global Politics and Euromediterranean Relations (GLOPEM) and as Vice-Coordinator of the PhD Programme in Political Sciences.
She currently serves as Institutional Erasmus Coordinator of the University of Catania, member of the ECPR Executive Committee and Chair of the ECPR Working Group on Academic Freedom. She is visiting professor of Political Violence and Terrorism at the OSCE Academy, Bishkek, associate editor of the Journal of Contemporary European Studies, co-editor of the Springer book series on Non-State Actors in International Relations, together with Marianna Charountaki. She is also editor-in-chief of the International and Political Studies journal, edited by Odesa I.I. Machnikov National University (ONU).
She leads the UNICT Team within the MORDOR project, an Erasmus + Cooperation Partnership for higher education K220 project on Mapping and Organizing Research on Dictatorships: Open access Repository and is member of the Management Committee of the COST CA21133 – Globalization, Illicit Trade, Sustainability and Security (GLITSS). Her primary research focuses on action and influence on global politics by non-state actors, both positive (civil society organizations and NGOs) and negative actors (organized crime and terrorism).
