Holly Dugan earned her PhD at the University of Michigan, US. Her research is on Renaissance literature and medieval and early modern drama with a particular focus on sensory history.
She is the author of The Ephemeral History of Perfume: Scent and Sense in Early Modern England (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2011) and has written articles on the historical and cultural significance of smell including the role of smell in seventeenth-century pain narratives.
