Jason Hawreliak is an Associate Professor of Game Studies and the Director of the Centre for Digital Humanities at Brock University in Ontario, Canada, where he teaches in the Interactive Arts & Science and Game Design programs. His research examines the semiotic and rhetorical affordances of interactive media with a focus on multimodality in videogames. He is the author of Multimodal Semiotics and Rhetoric in Videogames (Routledge, 2018) and co-founder of the online game studies periodical, First Person Scholar.
