Professor Kay Axhausen

Professor Kay Axhausen is a full Professor of Transport Planning in the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering at ETH Zürich. He has been involved in the measurement and modelling of travel behaviour for the past 35 years contributing especially to the literature on stated preferences, micro-simulation of travel behaviour, valuation of travel time and its components, parking behaviour, accessibility impacts and travel behaviour measurement.
His current work focuses on the micro-simulation of daily travel behaviour and long-term mobility choices. Before working at ETH, Prof. Axhausen worked at the University of Innsbruck, the Imperial College London and the University of Oxford. He holds Master of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison as well as Ph.D. in civil engineering from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.
Prof. Axhausen is known for writing a significant amount of papers, presentations and research data (as of Jan. 2022, Google Scholar citations are more than 34,000 H-Index 89). He is an editor in chief of Transportation, and serves on the editor's advisory board of Transportation Research A, and Travel Behaviour and Society.
