Professor Plamen Angelov

Prof. Angelov (PhD'93, DSc'15, FIEEE’15, FIET’14, FELLIS’19), holds a Chair in Intelligent Systems and Director of the Lancaster Intelligent, Robotic and Autonomous systems (LIRA) Centre.
He is Governor of the International Neural Networks Society for which he also served as Vice President (2017-2020). He has 350+ publications including 3 granted patents and 3 research monographs cited 11600+ times (h-index 55). He has an active research portfolio in the area of explainable deep learning and internationally recognised results into autonomous learning and evolving systems. He leads numerous projects funded by research councils, EC, European Space Agency, DSTL, GCHQ, industry.
He is recipient of numerous awards including Dennis Gabor Award 2020 for “outstanding contributions to engineering applications of neural networks”, IEEE awards for outstanding contributions (2013, 2017). He is Editor-in-Chief of Springer’s journal Evolving Systems and Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics, on Fuzzy Systems, and on AI, gave 30+ key note/plenary talks and was General co-Chair of many high profile IEEE conferences.
