Staff and PhD students in the Centre for Mathematical Cognition (CMC) were getting to grips with an intuitive screen-based and portable eye tracking equipment which will support them with their research activities.

The high performance eye tracker - Tobii Pro Fusion - will be mainly used to collect data in the lab or can be used out at schools.  With sampling frequencies of up to 250 Hz, Tobii Fusion Pro has two eye tracking cameras and two pupil tracking modes (bright and dark pupil).

As part of its continual investment, the CMC has purchased the equipment for staff and students to be able to collect data for their research and Hellen Vergoossen from Tobii Pro visited the Centre on Monday 5 September to deliver a training session on the products and software.

As well as the eye tracker, the Centre has the Tobii Pro Glasses 3 - a wearable eye tracker that will allow our researchers to conduct behavioural research out in schools and other settings. Other software includes the Tobii Pro Lab and the team in the CMC also learned about Shimmer Sensing.

Thanks to this investment into the modern eye tracking technology, the CMC researchers will be able to conduct cutting-edge behavioural research to give insight into the cognitive processes in order to inform their research projects and studies.
