Selective catalytic reduction
Two high-temperature air-flow test rigs are available for experimental research into selective catalytic reduction (SCR) aftertreatment. Research is undertaken to inform simulation activities, provide understanding of the fundamental interactions that occur, and develop new solutions. This pioneering work has led to the development of new system concepts and designs.
Featuring advanced optical-diagnostic techniques, the state-of-the-art facilities are fully controllable to replicate heavy-duty vehicle exhaust flows under a wide range of conditions.
Research areas include
- Liquid injection and atomisation
- Two-phase interactions
- Droplet dynamics and impaction
- Conjugate heat transfer
- Deposit formation processes
