Sustainable supply chain decision making
Dr Alok Choudhary - Business and Economics
Decision Science
Alok Choudhary and his team have developed a set of innovative analytical tools for sustainability assessment, improvement and risk mitigation within supply chains.
Their innovative decision support tools, frameworks and business models help supply chain managers make difficult and complex data-driven decisions to increase operational productivity, reduce carbon emissions and increase resource efficiency.
Amongst their portfolio is SUSTAIN – a user-friendly online toolkit which provides a structured approach for manufacturing and logistics companies to manage their sustainability objectives.
It is significantly improving the way supply chain managers measure, assess and develop their sustainability practices and the performance of their global supply chains.
To date, SUSTAIN has helped 10 organisations across Australia, India, the Middle East and UK – including start-ups, SMEs, and multinationals – to improve their business performance and competitive differentiation while increasing their resource efficiency and reducing carbon emissions.
Dr Choudhary’s recent work focuses on investigating water resource accounting, circular economy and sustainability risks in supply chains.
His innovative work has earned him several accolades, including the University’s Vice-Chancellor Award for Enterprise and the Carbon Trust’s Outstanding Contribution Award.
He works with partner institutions and organisations worldwide, and was invited by the House of Lords to showcase his groundbreaking collaborative UK-India sustainability research.
