The event, titled “Creating a Hydrogen Superpower in the East Midlands”, will take place on Monday 12 February at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Science and Enterprise Park (LUSEP). It is open to anyone interested in how a future hydrogen economy develops, from producers to users and anywhere along the value and supply chain.
At the event, º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ, in partnership with the University of Nottingham and the East Midlands Freeport, will invite organisations to share challenges, concerns and insights in hydrogen and its implications and opportunities for the regional economy.
Guests will hear from Intelligent Energy, DNV, BSI and Cenex, all part of the established LUSEP Net Zero cluster.
East Midlands Freeport recently announced seed capital funding for Phase 1 of The East Midlands Zero Carbon Innovation Centre, a joint initiative between the Freeport, º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ and University of Nottingham to focus on hydrogen, manufacturing and electrification for power and propulsion.
The hydrogen element of this will enable º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ’s Hydrogen Works to execute the first stage of construction of a green hydrogen production testing and training facility, which will be complemented by the enhancement of the established hydrogen storage, fuelling and infrastructure capability at Nottingham.
Professor Dan Parsons, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ, said: “The Freeport funding will help ensure the East Midlands is at the forefront of net zero carbon innovation. We look forward to welcoming industry, research and economic development partners to work together and help accelerate progress towards achieving net zero and increase productivity and inward investment for the East Midlands.”
The event is free to attend and will run from 08.30am – 10.00am on Monday 12 February at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Science and Enterprise Park. To join, please register online by Wednesday 7 February.
