This is the fifth round of £100,000 grant funding available to good causes across Charnwood and supports community groups, young people, sports initiatives, and lifelong learning. LSU Action and good causes initiated by or involving University staff, alumni and LUSEP campus partners are previous beneficiaries.
The Baca Charity received funding from the Trust in 2021. The charity works with child refugees, providing safe accommodation and holistic care to young people who have fled their homes – many of whom are victims of human trafficking.
The Trust’s support allowed the Charity to employ a Leaving Care Support Worker and an Education Coordinator. Both roles are crucial to the development and wellbeing of the young people with whom Bacca works.
Organisations interested in applying to the Trust are not required to have registered charitable status. However, donations must meet Charity Commission criteria and principally benefit people in Charnwood.
The deadline for applications is Sunday 31 March 2024. Full details about eligibility and how to apply can be found on the Intelligent Energy Charitable Trust’s webpages.
