The GSUN is a collective of universities from around the world that harnesses knowledge on sport to solve timely, complex problems. GSUN aggregates research, faculty insights and student energy to address topics that no one university could fully address on its own.
The network aims to be the connective convenor between industry, governing bodies, sport commissions, media and other key stakeholders and the academics who are researching the relevant areas.
While the network will facilitate connections and collaborations all year, the focal point will be an annual summit, bringing together academics and stakeholders around a key topic.
The work of the network is initially focused on health and performance, inclusivity, political and societal change, and sustainability.
At the meeting, members of media, industry, sports federations and sports bodies were joined by representatives from universities of nine countries across six continents to discuss the mission and vision of the network and how to make the greatest impact.
