Each year, LU Arts award up to nine arts scholarships to students at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ with exceptional talent in an art form of their choice. The scholarships do not form part of a student’s studies but instead recognise and reward extra-curricular engagement in the arts.
As part of their scholarships, the recipients are awarded a cash prize and a tailored support package, which may include one-to-one tuition, mentoring, training, or specialist equipment; this helps develop their skills and knowledge during their scholarship year. The students are also encouraged to organise and participate in activities and events throughout the academic year relating to their discipline.
This year's scholarship winners come from a variety of subject areas and backgrounds with a mix of undergraduate and postgraduate students. Their art forms include creative writing, music, dance, and drama.
The programme for the concert is:
- Ellie Budds singing a selection of original songs, accompanied by Bethany Dark on piano.
- Bethany Dark (piano) performing music by Handel and Lady Gaga (accompanied by LSU Classical’s String Quartet) and a song from ‘High School Musical’ (with vocal accompaniment from Rafael Oliveira and Holly Looseley).
