Applications for Music and Arts Scholarships are now open

If you’re a student pursuing a passion for the arts outside of your studies, then you could apply for a Music or Arts Scholarship for 2023/24.

Managed by LU Arts, the University’s extra-curricular arts programme, there are nine scholarships available. The scholarships recognise, reward and develop your ability, passion, commitment and potential in your chosen art form.

Art forms that you can apply for a scholarship in include (but are not limited to) any genre of music, creative writing (including poetry), photography, film, animation, any genre of dance, performing arts, textiles, visual arts and crafts. Previous winners have included a kathak dancer, musical conductor, props maker, filmmaker, poets and a wide range of musicians, singers and songwriters.

For 2023/24, each scholarship winner will receive a £100 cash prize and a tailored package of support worth up to £500. This support could be in the form of one-to-one tuition, mentoring, masterclasses, training or attending relevant events to help develop your skills and knowledge.

There will also be opportunities for scholars to showcase their talents by presenting or performing their work during the year.

The scholarships are open to all current º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ students (undergraduates, postgraduates and postgraduate researchers) based at the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ or London campus.

For full eligibility criteria, visit the scholarships dedicated webpage.

The scholarships recognise talent, but awards are also judged on commitment, passion and who would benefit the most from the support.

LU Arts is committed to inclusivity and representing the student community. They welcome applications from students of all backgrounds.

To apply for a scholarship, download and complete the application form and then email it to LUArts@lboro.ac.uk. Please ensure you read through all the important accompanying information on the form before submitting it.

If you are unsure of your eligibility or have any other queries, please email LUArts@lboro.ac.uk in advance of applying. There will be an online drop-in session on Thursday 19 October to answer any questions and get some advice on applying for a scholarship. Login details will be added to the Arts Scholarships webpage nearer the time.

The deadline for applications is Monday 23 October, 5pm.
