Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

The University is deeply saddened by the news of the death of Her Majesty The Queen. Our thoughts are with the Royal Family at this very sad time.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II ruled for longer than any other Monarch in British history and was a loved and respected figure worldwide. Her Majesty was Royal Patron or President of more than 600 charities and throughout her reign carried out countless public engagements around the world.

The University was honoured to welcome Her Majesty The Queen to the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ campus in 2003 to officially open the ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board) National Academy.

After observing ECB National Academy players practising in the main hall, Her Majesty and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh toured the facility. They watched a demonstration of the Academy’s advanced coaching aids, such as the Hawkeye tracking system, and met the ECB National Academy Players. They unveiled a commemorative plaque to mark the official opening of the facility and signed a portrait photograph and presentation cricket bat.

In line with national guidance, the University will mark Her Majesty’s passing. Events scheduled to take place on campus on the days leading up to Her Majesty’s funeral may be affected and further announcements will be made in due course.
