School of Design and Creative Arts Degree Show launches today, celebrating a diverse and rich display of work from º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ students

º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ is delighted to unveil this year’s Degree Show showcasing work from finalists based in the School of Design and Creative Arts.

The annual event celebrates and showcases innovation and creative talent, and provides a crucial opportunity for students to share their projects with both the public and industry, helping to raise their profile with potential employers prior to starting their careers.

º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ is ranked 1st in the UK for Design and Crafts (The Guardian University Guide 2022) and 2nd in the UK for Art and Design (The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2022). Therefore, the work which guests will see at the Degree Show evidences the excellence on how and why these rankings exist.

The Creative Arts exhibition is open from today (10 June) until Sunday 19 June – here you can see work from students studying Fine Art, Graphic Communication and Illustration, and Textile Design, alongside projects from º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ’s Art and Design Foundation students.

For those who want to see innovative products that provide real-world solutions to today’s challenges in society, the Design Degree Show will be open from 15-19 June and will feature projects from courses including Architecture, Industrial Design and Technology, Product Design and Technology, and User Centred Design.

In addition to the above, Drama students will also be performing their final project work – an adaption of ‘The End of Men’ by Christina Sweeney-Baird – on 15, 16 and 17 June in Martin Hall. More details including ticket information can be found online

Specific events are being held across the period, which will invite industry contacts and local schools to view the Degree Show, as well as a dedicated celebration event for students and their loved ones to applaud their hard work.

Dean of the School of Design and Creative Arts, Professor Cees de Bont commented: “This year we are proud to host both a physical exhibition and digital showcase that engages our industry partners, potential employers, and members of the public.

“This diverse and rich display of work is the culmination of students’ capabilities and skills which have been developed in an open and supportive studio and practice-based environment, underpinned by rigorous theoretical and critical debate. I am sure you will join me in congratulating them and wishing our talented finalists every success in the future.”

The Degree Show is free to attend, and all are welcome to join. It will be open daily from 10am-4pm; register your place on the University Online Store.
