º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ awards funding for local projects

The University has provided funds to 16 charities as part of the Community Donations Fund, aimed at supporting projects that benefit the Charnwood community.

Recipients of the Open Fund (for local organisations) and the Inside Out Fund (for organisations staff members are involved in) were both celebrated at a presentation evening on 8 June.

Each organisation spoke about the important work they are doing in Charnwood – from upcycling furniture and providing books to schools, to teaching people how to make low-cost meals and expanding a Pay As You Feel café.

Chair of the Community Donations committee, Professor Steve Rothberg said: “It was a real pleasure to meet people from the organisations we supported and I’m proud that the University is playing this important part in our local community.”
