Curated by Professor Phillip Lindley, based in the School of Design and Creative Arts, 3D Drawing will feature abstract and conceptual drawings by sculptors and other artists who usually work in three dimensions. The show celebrates the recent formation of the interdisciplinary Sculpture Research Group based within the School.
The exhibition will include drawings by Turner-Prize winning sculptor Richard Deacon RA, Turner-Prize nominee Fiona Banner RA, David Nash RA, Jacqueline Donachie, Amikam Toren and Stuart Taylor.
Their drawings will also be accompanied by the works of other distinguished artists teaching at the University, including: Nick Aikman, John Atkin, Deborah Harty, Eleanor Morgan, Craig Richardson, and Michael Shaw.
Professor Lindley commented: “This wonderful little show celebrates the start of the new academic year with an opportunity for students and visitors to scrutinise some superb drawings in person.
“Digital viewing is no substitute for looking at actual drawings (except if the work is ‘born digital’)! A dozen artists have contributed fascinating works, all on the theme of three-dimensionality, to celebrate the founding of the Sculpture Research Group here at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ.”
The exhibition will be available to access from 28 September – 25 October in the Martin Hall Exhibition Space from 12pm-2pm (weekdays only) and is free to attend; no booking required.
