Jennifer Maxwell-Harris, a solicitor and partner in the firm of Joelson JD LLP, has been appointed as Deputy Chair and Pro-Chancellor. She will be joined by John Sinnott, Chief Executive of Leicestershire County Council, as Pro-Chancellor. Both will take up their new roles in August.
Together they will support and work with the Senior Pro-Chancellor, Christine Hodgson CBE. Christine, who is a º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ alumna and Chair of Severn Trent, took up the role in January and is the first woman to Chair the University’s Council.
Three new lay members were also welcomed onto Council: Andrea Davis, alumna and Head of Corporate Strategy at Investcorp, Graham Corfield, alumnus and former COO of JUST EAT, and Mike Wedderburn, alumnus and presenter for Sky Sports.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Robert Allison said: “Let me thank our outgoing Pro-Chancellors, Alan Hughes and Ann Greenwood, and Council lay member Jane Tabor. Their commitment to the University has been outstanding. We are incredibly grateful for their support over the years.
“As Pro-Chancellors, Jennifer Maxwell-Harris and John Sinnott will provide insight, wisdom and guidance to the University.
“Council plays a crucial role in the life of the University. Our success is, in no small part, due to Council’s collective support and commitment. Adding the skills of Andrea Davis, Graham Corfield and Mike Wedderburn will serve us well.”
Council is the senior governing body of the University and oversees all strategic matters and setting the direction of the institution. Further information can be found here.
