The Philanthropy and Engagement teams are setting this challenge to raise £10,000 to support mental health provisions at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ.
There are a range of levels to choose from, so whether you’re a former Olympian or you only run for the bus, there’s something for you.
From 10-19 March 2021, you can run 10k, do 10,000 steps a day every day, run 10 minutes every day, or set your own wildcard challenge. Wildcard challenges range from running 100k over ten days, to playing an instrument every day for 10 days, so if running isn’t for you, you can still get involved!
Almost forty people are already signed up, including Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research, Professor Steve Rothberg.
Steve says: “Our own excellent º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ research tells us how important exercise is for good mental health and wellbeing and that’s never been more important now than it is now in the pandemic. So what better way could there be for º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ to fundraise for student mental health support than through an exercise challenge?”
Runners will be asked to track activity using Strava and participants and donors will be able to follow the progress of The £10k Challenge via its integration with Just Giving.
Participants committing to other activities will share their progress via their individual Just Giving pages.
Funds raised will go to the Mental Health Appeal, launched in 2020 to raise money to support the services on offer to students at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ during these difficult times.
