Jamie Barker's new book

º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ academic publishes new sporting book

Dr Jamie Barker, Senior Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Psychology at the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences has co-authored a new book titled ‘The Psychology of Soccer’.

The literature seeks to present a detailed understanding of the theories underpinning the psychological issues relating to soccer along with practical insights into effective psychological interventions and strategies.

It has been penned alongside Joseph Dixon (Club Performance Psychologist with Stoke City Football Club), Richard C. Thelwell (Professor of Applied Sport Psychology and Head of School for Sport, Health, and Exercise Sciences at the University of Portsmouth), and Dr Ian Mitchell (Head of Performance Psychology at England Football Association).

Dr Barker will also be part of a panel Q&A session at the ‘Keeping Your Head in the Game - Sport Psychology of Football’ conference at Ulster University, Belfast.

The panel will explore the latest research and techniques within applied sport psychology, helping understand how our thinking impacts performance and player well-being on and off the pitch.
