Public encouraged to attend lecture on open access and open scholarship

The community is being encouraged to attend a public lecture at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ on creating research that matters to people outside of the higher education system.

The lecture will be given by visiting Professor Ray Siemens, a Distinguished Professor at the University of Victoria in Canada, and a Leverhulme Visiting Professor at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ.

The talk will explore the foundations for establishing and encouraging open scholarship that speaks to both academics and engaged members of the public.

Open scholarship involves creating and sharing research that is accessible to specialists in the field and to the community.

Drawing on Ray Siemens’s extensive experience of working with a wide range of the public, this lecture has the potential to transform the traditional way we approach research.

The lecture, which takes place from 4pm-5.30pm on 20 November, is being funded by a Leverhulme Trust Visiting Professorship award. The award was presented to Dr Lise Jaillant, a lecturer in English at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ.
