Hansard is the name for the official report of all parliamentary debates and Simon Woods has taken this as the title for his new play, which is a witty and devastating portrait of the governing class. The play stars two-time Olivier Award winners Lindsay Duncan (Birdman, º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Time) and Alex Jennings (The Lady in the Van, The Queen).
Set in 1988, the story follows a day in the life of Tory politician Robin Hesketh and his wife of 30 years, Diana, in their idyllic Cotswolds house. What starts off as a seemingly ordinary day in their ‘blissful’ lives becomes more and more troublesome as the day draws on and secrets are revealed and marital scrapping turns to blood-sport.
