Michael Gleeson, Emeritus Professor of Exercise Biochemistry, has written a book called Eat, Move, Sleep, Repeat which explores how people can achieve optimal health and avoid illness, injury and chronic disease as they get older.
Published by Meyer & Meyer Sport, the book provides scientific-based reasons for choosing certain diets and forms of physical activity that can help to achieve effective body fat and body weight loss.
It also explains how to: Develop a personalised weight loss plan, avoid common illnesses, avoid succumbing to chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease and cancer; gives guidelines for a healthy balanced diet and provides advice on how to improve sleep quality and it also explains the importance of regular exercise.
Prof Gleeson, of the University’s School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences, said: “The aim of this book is to educate, empower and motivate people to modify their current lifestyle for the better.”
“People can become healthier and live longer with relatively little disruption to their normal daily routine if they take on board the advice I give.”
“What is different to so many of the other healthy lifestyle books that have been published in recent years, is that my book provides only evidence-based advice and explains the underpinning science.”
Prof Gleeson said the book will be beneficial to anyone who wants to be slimmer, fitter and healthier because he explains everything a person needs to know to improve their lives in these areas, making their health as good as it possibly can be.
“My book also coincides nicely with the launch of the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ staff wellbeing initiative which also aims to provide a one-stop shop for wellbeing,” added Prof Gleeson.
“I hope that people will enjoy reading a book about wellbeing that is written by an expert for a change.”
Eat, Move, Sleep, Repeat will be released in January 2020 and is available now for pre-order purchase from Amazon Books.
