Amidst some fantastic performances at the recent º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ International meet, the victorious men’s º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ 4x100m quartet set what is believed to be the fastest ever time by a British University student team.

Edging the narrowest of victories in 40.21 over the England squad, the team of Mike Olsen, Kristian Jones, Charlie Dobson and Adam Thomas, not only set a new LSAC record, but also eclipsed the 40.28 mark set by Brunel University when winning the BUCS title in the Olympic stadium in 2012.

º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Sprint relays coach Leon Baptiste, who guided the quartet to this achievement, was delighted with the run:

“We’re all absolutely chuffed for the 4x100m record breaking squad. º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ has recently attracted some top sprinters here, so we were able to field a very strong team.

“With more practice over the next 12 months I believe we can improve a little more and run below 40 seconds. I would also like to say a huge thanks to their personal coaches on getting them in good shape.”

This year’s competition also saw Paralympic champion Sophie Hahn break the world record in the Women's Para-Elite T38 100m with a time of 12.43s.
