A new initiative launched by the University will see 11-16-year-olds invited on campus to take part in exercise programmes specifically designed for teenagers and young adults looking to get into fitness.
Taking place at the Holywell Fitness Centre, the weekly hour-long classes combine strength, agility, and exercises, using the gym floor and its studio space with the latest Technogym equipment.
Chris Wright, Strength & Conditioning Coach, º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ, explained:
“During the summer break, it’s really important that children stay active and keep exercising when away from the routine of school. With this in mind, we have developed classes that encourage youngsters looking to get into fitness and maintain physical activity.
“Our key goals around the sessions are to help build longstanding positive sport and exercise habits, to support a balanced healthy lifestyle. Not only is this about getting more people active, but we also hope that the children leave the sessions feeling fitter, stronger, more mentally energised and confident to take on any task.”
The classes are taught by º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ’s experienced gym instructors and will run every Saturday for six weeks starting on Saturday 6th July.
These can be purchased individually or as a 6-week package and are priced as follows:
- Individual Class - £3.50
- Bulk 6 classes - £20
