The Open Fund - which has been running since 2009 – has donated more than £5,000 this autumn to a variety of groups to support the social, educational, cultural and physical wellbeing of people living in Charnwood.
Jon Walker, Chair of the Community Donations Committee and the University’s Director of Enterprise Development, said: “The University is once again delighted to be able to provide this financial help to support the important work of a wide range of voluntary and charitable organisations in º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ and Charnwood more widely.
“The vital work of these groups and their dedicated volunteers is impressive and makes a real difference to the lives of people in the area.”

Contribution to build two raised garden beds so those with mobility issues can take part in gardening activities. |

Funding will be used to hire venues to host indoor multi-sport sessions during the winter months for young people. |

Contribution to providing better camping equipment for scouts such as tents, lighting and cooking equipment. |
SRK Community Project |
Funds to purchase a pool table for a summer play scheme for young people to enjoy. |
The Peter Le Marchant Trust |
Funding to promote the charity through social media, as well as recruiting and supporting young volunteers to learn new skills and gain experience. |

Contribution to pay for training of a new youth worker who will be teaching sex education to young girls. |
Warwick Way Action Group |
Funds to support a free weekly art and craft evening for adults. |
